VEINWAVE |
|
1. Introduction
Veinwave is useful for treating very small veins which are unsuitable for micro-injection sclerotherapy. Veinwave treatment is also suitable for treating small veins on the face and other delicate areas of the body (e.g. ankles). Veinwave can be used to treat miniscule red flare veins (telangiectasias) on the legs which are too small to inject. The best results in legs are achieved when Veinwave is combined with micro-injection sclerotherapy.
2. How does Veinwave work?
Veinwave utilises an ultrafine insulated needle through which very high frequency microwave energy is delivered into the vessels. This causes the vessels to heat and shrink (a process called thermo-coagulation) without damaging surrounding skin. After treatment the damaged blood vessels gradually disappear over the next few weeks. Some resistant areas may require the treatment to be repeated. Once the vessels have gone the treated area returns to the natural colour of your skin. During treatment, you may experience slight discomfort. Treatment sessions may last around fifteen minutes.
3. After Veinwave treatment.
No bandages or special precautions are necessary. You can resume normal physical activities straight away. The treated areas may darken and take several weeks to fade completely. Sometimes there may be slight crusting of the overlying skin, but this usually resolves within a few days. There is no problem with sun exposure after Veinwave treatment, unlike with Laser treatment.
